“Bringing people and organizations together to work with and for parents and children in order to maximize school readiness.”
Smart Start is a public/private early childhood initiative to help all North Carolina children enter school healthy and ready to succeed. Smart Start services are targeted for children 0-5 years and their families; the goal is to make sure child care is of high quality and affordable. Smart Start also strives to make child care accessible to those who need it. Providing referrals to child care centers or homes are also included in Smart Start activities.
The mission of the Chowan/Perquimans Smart Start Partnership is to bring people and organizations together to maximize early childhood development and school readiness through advocacy, parent, and child care provider support programs.
All children 0-5 will receive the services needed to enter school healthy and prepared for success.
To meet that goal, the Partnership provides programs for parents, caregivers, and child care providers of young children.
This website is designed to meet the needs of the families and providers we serve. On it you’ll learn about the people who work in our organization (About Us). Families will find information about how they can improve the quality of their children’s lives (For Families). Child Care Providers will find resources that will grow their business and make them better providers (For Providers).
The website will keep you up to date on what is going on in our area relating to child care and child rearing (News). It also will alert you to the many upcoming training workshops available to both parents and providers (Training Calendar). We’ve also put together a useful list of web links for families and providers (Links). And finally, we let you know where you can find further resources in our local libraries (Library).
We value your feedback about the website. Email us if you have any suggestions about how it can be improved. Thanks!
